Being a teenager is a challenge and many of the most difficult issues are invisible to the outside world.

  • Hormonal Changes / Growing pains
  • Acne / Bad Skin
  • Friendship / Bullying issues / Boyfriend / Girlfriend issues
  • Exams / Academic pressure
  • Self Esteem/ Confidence issues
  • Gaining weight / health / nutritional issues
  • Smoking / Drugs / Alcohol
Yoga addresses all these issues at a physical, mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual level.

Yoga offers a healthy oasis from the pressures and conflicts facing Teens in their daily lives.  Hot yoga in particular is specifically able to address skin and hormonal imbalances through stimulation of the lymph system, sweating out toxins to cleanse the skin, releasing of happy hormones such as seratonin to elevate mood, release of endorphines which improve feelings of physical and psychological well being.

Exam stress, social issues, self confidence are all positively addressed through yoga.  When we feel better about ourselves we act more positively to challenging circumstances.  If you teen feels better about her body she will have more resistance to smoking, drugs and alcohol.  Studies have shown that athletes have much lower drug / alcohol consupmtion than non athletes because they are more in touch with the damage to their bodies when they work so hard in training.

The Yoga asanas or postures stretch and tone every muscle in the body giving teens are real sense of being grounded within their physical self.  When worry, anxiety, depression, fear, insecurity or frustration dominate yoga is a tried and tested method of dispelling the monkey mind and restoring mental, emotional and spiritual balance.

Most importantly yoga is a positive expression of the self, a way of proactively healing ourselves from the bumps and bruises we receive throughout the course of every day living.  Teens are more vulnerable to these fluctuations because of their inexperience and the intense rate of change in all areas of their lives. Yoga brings us back to our true selves where we can experience an hour of self care and healing in order to find more positive and proactive solutions to the difficulties we face in life.

So give your Teen the gift of a life long path to find their way back to their best self and prepare them to meet the many challenges they face every day.

I look forward to seeing you in the dome!
